Chapter 7
Chapter 7 of the New Perspectives book discusses wireless networking. It starts off with a visual of cellphones going from 1G which came out in 1978 to the 4G we use today. The chapter briefly discusses the possibility of 5G which is something most people use now. This chapter goes more into wireless area networks, their standards, transfer rates and range. It was interesting to read about Mi-Fi, PAN and Bluetooth as I didn’t know there was a name for all the devices connected using a PAN with a Bluetooth device. That technology is called piconet. Middle and end of the chapter describes methods to secure your wireless networks such as changing the default login for your router, and understanding the different kinds of threats to your network.
